ARCHITECTURAL HELP WANTED: PROJECT MANAGER
Soltner Group Architects is looking to fill an immediate position for a Project Manager. We are a small professional firm located at the north end of Lake Union specializing in the analysis and repair of exterior building systems. Our work is technically oriented and consists of both investigation and documentation of building conditions, as well as the design and oversight of repairs.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years experience in the industry, be well organized and technically proficient, have a strong understanding of building systems and components, and be able to work as a team player while providing support and organization for the Principal and Senior Architects, developing contract documents, coordinating consultants, writing specifications, and oversight of construction administration.
This position requires a “self-starter” that can learn various aspects of the job on their own while still being productive and is comfortable spending a significant amount of time in the field performing reviews of exterior siding and roofing systems.
Typical duties include supporting the lead architect in the following:
Construction Administration and Onsite reviews – 35%
Drafting and Production – 30%
Building Envelope Investigation assistance – 10%
Report writing – 10%
Miscellaneous support – 15%

1 General Requirements
A Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Building Sciences preferred but not required. Industry experience and background in construction are as important as educational background.
B Minimum three years of industry experience, preferably with emphasis on exterior envelope systems and technical aspects of construction.
(1) Experience with wood-frame, multi-family projects desired.
(2) Construction Management experience desired; Experience with evaluation and repairs to existing buildings desired.
(3) In-field construction observation, inspection, and/or administration experience desired.
(4) Understanding of environmental factors and their effect on exterior systems and materials desired.
C Strong knowledge of Codes, Industry Standards, and building materials associated with exterior systems desired.
D Good organization, documentation, and technical writing skills.
E Mac-based systems experience desired. Working knowledge of the following software applications preferred:
(1) CAD drafting experience required. ArchiCad experience preferred, AutoCad OK
(2) Microsoft Office Suite
(4) Adobe Suite
F Strong ability to self-learn and work independently necessary.
G Ability to maintain organization and perform a variety of activities simultaneously on multiple projects necessary.
H Good communication skills and ability to explain technical issues to clients and provide clear direction to contractors.
I Ability to work efficiently, prioritize work activities, and consistently meet deadlines.
J Physically healthy with experience and ability to routinely access the work including climbing ladders, riding in lifts, walking roofs, and accessing and using scaffolding systems.
2 Position Responsibilities
A Development of contract documents, including drafting and detailing.
B Code, product, and document research.
C Contractor and consultant coordination including scheduling, writing Proposal Requests, reviewing estimates and invoices, and verification of services provided.
D Field investigations and construction reviews including photography, field reports, and meeting minutes.
E Organizing data including photographs, product information, and project information.
F Report and specification writing.
G Assist the lead architect in client support and coordination including proposal for services, scheduling, presentations, and communication.
A Salary $60,000 - $85,000 / year DOE
(1) Yearly reviews and increases based on performance
(2) Yearly bonus based on performance and profitability
